About Image

BARDA is pleased to continue our featured Lightning Talks during BARDA Industry Day 2021! This year’s BID theme is “Strengthening Partnerships, Advancing Innovation” and the agenda highlights the many ways we collaborate with our stakeholders to continually enhance our medical countermeasure capabilities and efficiencies. Lightning Talks are for individuals, academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, biotech, and other industry innovators to showcase their innovative technologies while continuously fostering critical connections!

The popular BARDA Lightning Talks in BID 2020 garnered over 350 submissions and resulted in two Lightning Talk sessions for which 20 companies were selected to present. Those chosen were able to present to hundreds of influential industry experts with great networking, collaboration, and exposure potential!  In 2021, Lightning Talks will showcase innovative discoveries and promote stakeholder networking through virtual conference introductions. Lightning Talks will be featured on both days during the afternoon sessions. Since going virtual in 2020 we are anticipating an even bigger audience of industry partners and stakeholder viewers this year as well!

Participants will have 6 minutes to impress a virtual audience of industry and government experts, who are eager to learn about the most recent innovations in medical countermeasures and advances in health security.

Lightning Talks are intentionally designed to be brief, energetic, and full of information to pique the curiosity of industry and government colleagues and prospective partners. To submit your application, please enter the requested information and provide a brief (maximum 500 words) summary of your proposed presentation, with one optional PowerPoint slide.

BARDA will review all applications on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to ASPR and BARDA mission
  • Relevance to BARDA Industry Day 2021 theme, “Strengthening Partnerships, Advancing Innovation”
  • Goals of the proposed talk: are you seeking partnerships/collaborations? Accelerating product development? Looking for new applications for existing technologies?

Applications must be received by 11:59 PM Eastern Monday, August 9, 2021.

Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted.

Presentation of a Lightning Talk is not a government endorsement of your product or service, nor a guarantee of government funding. Lightning Talks are used as market research for BARDA and our government, industry, and other current or potential partners. Discussions during Lightning Talks or at any time during BARDA Industry Day should not be directly related to any active BARDA solicitation unless BARDA Contracting explicitly states that those discussions are acceptable. All Lightning Talk entries chosen to present at BID 2021 will be pre-recorded. Additional instructions on pre-recordings will be shared with you if your submission is accepted.
